My endless coupons

TLC RINGS UP “EXTREME COUPONING” SERIES : Discovery Press Web

I am looking forward to TLC's upcoming "Extreme Couponing series that will debut this spring. Couponing is really a lot of fun, and addicting!

Here are some other places I frequently scout for great deals and tips:
The Krazy Coupon Lady
Couponmom.com
Couponforum.com

People are walking away with armloads of groceries per trip for next to nothing. Instead of needless stockpiling, some are contributing their goods to shelters around the country.

Finally, stop throwing expired grocery coupons in the trash! Our U.S. military families stationed overseas are able to use them on base for up to SIX MONTHS after the manufacturer's expiration date! See grocery saving tips website for more information, and a list of bases that accept coupons.

Exercise does a body good!

So today I went to the gym on my lunchhour and worked out for 30 minutes...I feel pretty good about that. I will aspire to workout for longer periods of time as the year goes on, of course. It is amazing how much exercise improves your mood!
I read an article today on Arnold Schwartzenegger and his body building technique (not that I want to be a female body builder!) Arnold believes that becoming physically fit is 90% being in the zone-in your mind, and 10% the exercise itself. For example, when working out his biceps, he would close his eyes and picture them getting bigger and bigger, until they filled the entire gym! Food for thought... speaking of which, now I'm hungry!

What would Benjamin Franklin do?

"A life of leisure and a life of laziness are two things. There will be sleeping enough in the grave." (Benjamin Franklin)

Looking into the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin- the number of accomplishments he made during his lifetime is astounding. Many of the sayings we still use today are his quotes. ("A penny saved is a penny earned" is one).

Benjamin Franklin seemed to be involved in everything. He must have had boundless energy. I aspire to do as much as I am able to every day too. Personally, I have discovered that having a job outside my home actually contributes to my organization. There is no time to procrastinate- I have to "do it now" or I will pay for it later.

I plan to read more about him... my initial observation about Mr. Franklin is that he never stopped growing and learning. He was a printer, a scientist, a politician. There does seem to be a correlation between the pursuit of happiness and continual education!

This is me and my BFF

2011: A new beginning

I am starting the new year with a self improvement read: "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin. Gretchen Rubin devoted a year of her life to define what happiness means to her. She accomplished this by setting SMART goals, on a monthly basis. She studied the methods of Benjamin Franklin, the Dalai Llama and others. So far, I am enjoying it very much!
